Lightweight moisture for acne-prone skin

AcneRX Balance Cream is a lightweight, fragrance-free moisturizer formulated to soften dryness and support barrier comfort without leaving acne-prone skin feeling heavily coated.

Why we chose it

Acne treatment works best when the skin can tolerate it. AcneRX Balance Cream gives us a simple way to soften the tightness, flaking, and surface dryness that can develop while the skin adjusts to benzoyl peroxide, mandelic acid, salicylic acid, or other corrective products.

Its combination of humectants, emollients, and protective ingredients helps hold water in the skin and reduce moisture loss while maintaining a light, comfortable finish.

Best suited for

  • Acne-prone or congestion-prone skin

  • Combination or oily skin experiencing surface dryness

  • Skin adjusting to benzoyl peroxide, mandelic acid, or salicylic acid

  • Flaking, tightness, or discomfort caused by an active skincare ritual

  • Anyone who wants more cushioning than a hydration gel without the feel of a rich cream

This may not be your best fit if

  • Your skin is extremely dry and needs a richer, more replenishing moisturizer

  • Your skin is currently raw, burning, swollen, or significantly over-treated

  • You are looking for a completely oil-free formula; this product contains safflower oil

  • You know you are sensitive to any ingredient in the formula

If your skin has suddenly become highly reactive, pause your corrective products and contact us before adding something new. Sometimes the skin needs fewer instructions, not another bottle.

🌿 Laurie's Professional Guidance

AcneRX Balance Cream is not meant to overpower an acne ritual; it helps the skin tolerate one.

I most often recommend it during the adjustment period when benzoyl peroxide or exfoliating acids are beginning to create tightness or flaking. Use a small amount after treatment products to soften that transition. Once the skin has adjusted, you may find that you need it less often—particularly at night.

Moisturizer should support the plan, not smother the work your treatment products are doing.

Key Ingredients

Glycerin
A dependable humectant that draws water into the upper layers of the skin, helping reduce the tight, thirsty feeling that can accompany acne treatment.

Safflower oil
A plant-derived emollient that helps soften the skin and support a smoother surface without giving the cream an excessively rich feel.

Dimethicone
A lightweight skin protectant that helps reduce moisture loss and creates a soft, silky finish.

Petrolatum
Used within the formula to help slow water loss and support skin comfort. In this balanced cream base, it provides light protective cushioning rather than the feel of a heavy ointment.

Allantoin and panthenol
Conditioning ingredients that help dry or treatment-stressed skin feel calmer, softer, and more comfortable.

Hyaluronic acid
A water-binding humectant that supports surface hydration and a more supple feel.

How to Use

Apply a small amount to clean skin after serums or treatment products have absorbed.

Use in the morning before SPF. It may also be used in the evening when the skin feels dry, tight, or flaky.

If you are beginning a benzoyl peroxide ritual using short-contact therapy, apply Balance Cream after the benzoyl peroxide has been rinsed away. Once your skin has adjusted and you begin leaving benzoyl peroxide on overnight, DO NOT apply Balance Cream afterward.

A thin, even layer is usually enough. Adding more moisturizer will not necessarily correct irritation caused by using an active too frequently.

Where It Fits in Your Ritual

Morning

  1. Cleanse.
  2. Apply toner or treatment serum as directed.
  3. Apply AcneRX Balance Cream.
  4. Finish with broad-spectrum SPF.

Evening

  1. Cleanse.
  2. Apply your acne treatment as directed.
  3. Allow the treatment to absorb.
  4. Apply AcneRX Balance Cream if the skin needs additional comfort.

AcneRX Balance Cream pairs particularly well with benzoyl peroxide, mandelic acid, and salicylic acid rituals because it adds moisture without introducing another corrective active.

If you are using several exfoliating products, prescription acne medication, or a retinoid, contact us before adding more actives to your ritual.

Botanicals in This Formula

Safflower Oil

Pressed from the seeds of Carthamus tinctorius, safflower oil is a plant-derived emollient used to soften the skin and reduce the rough feeling associated with moisture loss. In AcneRX Balance Cream, it works alongside humectants and protective ingredients to give the formula a more comfortable, conditioned finish without turning it into a heavy facial cream.

Best known for:

Lightweight emollient support

Softening dry or flaky skin

Helping reduce surface moisture loss

Frequently Asked Questions

Is AcneRX Balance Cream appropriate for acne-prone skin?

It was formulated and selected with acne-prone skin in mind. Its lightweight texture makes it a useful option when acne treatment creates dryness but a richer moisturizer feels excessive. Individual sensitivities and acne triggers can still vary.

Is this moisturizer oil-free?

No. AcneRX Balance Cream contains safflower oil, along with dimethicone and a small amount of petrolatum. These ingredients help soften the skin and reduce moisture loss while maintaining a relatively light texture.

Can I use it with benzoyl peroxide?

Yes. We often use Balance Cream to support skin comfort while it adjusts to benzoyl peroxide. Apply it after your benzoyl peroxide step, following the directions of your individual acne ritual.

Can I use it with mandelic or salicylic acid?

Yes. Apply your treatment first, allow it to absorb, and follow with a small amount of Balance Cream. If your skin is already irritated, reduce the frequency of your active rather than simply layering on more moisturizer.

What is the difference between Balance Cream and Hydrating Jelly?

Hydrating Jelly provides very lightweight, water-based hydration and is useful for layering or “sandwiching” active products. Balance Cream adds more emollient and protective support, making it better suited to visible flaking, tightness, or treatment-related dryness.

Some skin benefits from using Hydrating Jelly beneath Balance Cream. Others need only one. Your skin does not receive bonus points for the largest possible product stack.

Can I use it when I am not using acne treatment?

Yes. It can be used as a lightweight daily moisturizer for combination, oily, or acne-prone skin, even when corrective products are not part of the ritual.

Precautions

For external use only. Avoid direct contact with the eyes.

Discontinue use if persistent irritation or sensitivity develops.

If the skin is raw, burning, swollen, or significantly over-exfoliated, pause corrective products and seek personalized guidance. A moisturizer may soften ordinary treatment dryness, but it should not be used to push through an active reaction.

Individual skin responses vary. No skincare product can be guaranteed to be appropriate for every acne-prone or sensitive skin.
